Stop Chasing Shortcuts

As Seth goes on to say in his blog post, “...everything that matters to someone often comes with heavily promoted shortcuts as an alternative. Fast, risk-free, effortless secrets that magically work, often at someone else’s expense. But if the shortcuts worked as promised, they wouldn’t be shortcuts, would they? They’d be the standard.”

Whether you want to lose weight, you’re an athlete who wants to be faster and stronger, or you’re entering the third act of your life and want to slow down the aches and pains - there’s a product or a service telling you it can be done in “just 2 weeks” or by “replacing just 2 meals with shakes!”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Don’t fall for it. Even more so, don’t let the hype make you believe that you cannot do it without the products and quick-services. Yes, you can lose weight, you can be faster and stronger, and you can move without pain. But you can’t do it without YOU. Change takes time, and it doesn’t last beyond those 2 weeks or after that 30-day challenge unless you were the reason for the change.

And when you’re ready for the lasting change, do your homework. Find a practitioner, coach or community who is educated, invested in their own professional development and takes the time to know you before suggesting a path forward. The shortcut may be appealing, but the reward of owning your own change is an unmatched feeling. It’s one of complete empowerment, and it will last.
