Anticipate the negatives and how you will overcome them.

Even the best intentions can’t keep life from getting in the way. Committing to a set of behaviors with the intention to improve your health, get fit, or even change your mindset is the first step toward long-term change. But we cannot take that step without also considering and planning for the obstacles that are right around the corner.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤷🏽‍♀️ How will you get your workout in if you’re asked to stay late at work?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤷🏻‍♂️ How will you avoid alcohol when you’re invited to happy hour with your co-workers?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
🤦🏾‍♀️ What will you do when your spouse wants to have dessert after dinner and you don’t want them to eat alone?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Life happens, and avoiding it will only isolate us from building and maintaining meaningful connections with those around us. Plan for the inevitable.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Working late? Take a 10 minute break to climb a few flights of stairs in your office or take a walk around the block. When you get home, stay away from electronics, eat a nutritious dinner and get as much quality sleep as you can.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Headed to happy hour? Order sparkling water with lemon/lime. People don’t usually care if you’re drinking, but they care if you’re there.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your spouse wants a brownie after dinner? Let them enjoy! Get yourself some fruit and enjoy something sweet together.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Your success depends on how well you plan for the obstacles. Write down every possible thing that could keep you from your commitments and how you will react when they inevitably happen.
