Train Smarter and Harder

Is optimal the point?

From the outside, exercise all pretty much looks the same. Lifting weights, stretching, sprinting, mobilizing, swinging ropes - you get the point. But what we don’t see is what the ‘focus’ of the exercise is.

🧠 As heavy as possible
🧠 As fast as possible
🧠 To cross each exercise off of the list
🧠 Perfect execution
🧠 ‘Just enough’ to get a little bit better
🧠 To have fun
🧠 To learn and master
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What we choose to focus on during exercise is the deciding factor in:
❓How much weight to use
❓How many reps to do
❓How much intensity to give
❓Making adjustments based on how it feels
❓Making adjustments based on level of enjoyment
❓Who we listen to for coaching
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The answers to these questions will ultimately determine your likelihood of injury, how quickly you’ll burn out, how well your body will adapt and progress, how much you’ll enjoy the process, how much respect you’ll give your body when it tells you to slow down... What will you focus on in 2020? As Seth says, “What about resilient?” That’s what we’re focused on. We’re focused on making exercise decisions based on how we feel each individual day. We’re focused on helping people build a body they can live in, perform in and be proud of.
