Get a movement screen.

A movement screen or fitness assessment can be done by your trainer or a physical therapist. It's an assessment that's meant to be preventative in nature, telling you what to watch out for and possibly avoid while training. It's like getting an inspection before you buy a house. You want to make sure everything is in working order before you move in and live in it.

At Train Smarter and Harder, we perform a Functional Movement Screen and body composition assessment with each person before they become a member. As your coach, we want to make sure we aren't putting you into positions that could result in injury or failure.

We reassess every 90 days to ensure we’re making progress; and if not, we make adjustments. If you’re currently training with someone (or at a facility) or working with a physical therapist, ask about how they assess movement and what their training or recovery philosophy is. If they can’t explain it clearly, spend your money elsewhere.
